Red Hat OpenShift for VMware

Overview
Reacting to a rapidly changing marketplace has accelerated the need for new approaches to modernizing and building applications.
To help organizations respond to our dynamic world, IBM is delivering Red Hat® OpenShift® on VMware Cloud Foundation for Classic - Automated, which brings together the power of Red Hat's robust OpenShift Container Platform and VMware's software-defined data center stack.
OpenShift® offers a consistent hybrid cloud foundation for building and scaling containerized applications. You can benefit from streamlined platform installation and upgrades from one of the enterprise Kubernetes leaders, Red Hat. Through recent support and integration between Red Hat and VMware, Red Hat OpenShift can now bring the power of Kubernetes and containers to your VMware environment.
IBM Cloud has made it easy to consume this compelling solution. Red Hat OpenShift for VMware extends the same familiar VMware operational model and tooling from on-premises into the IBM Cloud at the infrastructure and virtualization layer while deploying the OpenShift platform on top of the stack. IBM deploys the environment for you through automation, but you maintain complete control and visibility down the entire stack.
Red Hat OpenShift is deployed through automation and it requires an existing OpenShift subscription from Red Hat. You can choose the capacity, type of storage, and VMware licenses needed in your VMware Cloud Foundation for Classic - Automated instance. The solution topology requires 79 vCPUs, 155 GB RAM, and 952 GB storage.
To successfully deploy Red Hat OpenShift on VCF for Classic - Automated, you must have a Red Hat account and a pull-secret key from your account. All Red Hat support entitlements must be purchased through Red Hat. All OpenShift support issues should be directed to Red Hat.
Key features
- Control and access the whole stack from the container workload down to the VMware stack running on dedicated servers.
- Access to a native catalog of services through Red Hat OpenShift.
- Add capacity and apply patches and upgrade to the platform on your schedule.
- Use the same VMware tools and skills that you use on-premises to manage the IBM-hosted VMware environment.
