Advanced options

Instance configuration

  • You can specify cloud-config data in the User Data field when your server starts. For example, you can specify cloud-init directives or shell scripts for Linux images. For more information about specifying user data, see User data.

  • By enabling the metadata service on this instance, metadata about the instance, including user data, is activated on the instance. You can use instance metadata to initialize new instances. For more information about the metadata services, see About VPC Instance Metadata.

    There are no trusted profiles
You don't have any trusted profiles because they don't exist or you don't have permissions to view or link them. To update your IAM profile and linking permissions, see IAM API create link to trusted profiles page.

  • By enabling dedicated host, you are creating the virtual server instance in a single-tenant space. To provision a dedicated instance, you must have a dedicated host available or create one. For more information about dedicated hosts and groups, see Creating dedicated hosts and groups.

  • Placement Groups for IBM Cloud™ Virtual Private Cloud are used to create placement strategies for managing high availability workloads. For more information about placement groups and placement strategies, see About placement groups.

Resilience & business continuity

  • When enabled, host failure auto restart will automatically move the virtual server to a healthy host and restart it if the original host fails. If disabled, the instance will be stopped. For more information about host failure recovery policies, see Host failure recovery policies.
