LocationChoosing the right location is important because not all IBM Cloud services are accessible in every location. To minimize application latency, make sure to deploy resources in a region that is closest to deployment. For more information, see Service and infrastructure availability by location.

- Maximum possible throughput is 1024 MB/s.
- Pricing for the dp2 profile is based on a combination of capacity (GIGABYTE_HOURS) plus IOPS performance (IOPS_HOURS).
- Price for capacity is calculated using a linear model. the price scales linearly depending on the file share size you select.
- Price for performance is calculated based on graduated price per IOP (up to 96,000 IOPS), price will go down as you provision more IOPS.
- Optionally, you can setup replication across regions. Replicas are charged at the same data storage and IOPS hourly rate as source file shares, an additional data transfer cost applies for the data transferred between regions (GIGABYTES_TRANSMITTED).

Summary
The IBM Cloud® File Storage for VPC service provides secure, persistent, NSFv4.1 protocol-based file storage. IBM Cloud® File Storage for VPC is backed by All-Flash architecture. You can create file shares with capacity that ranges from 10 GB to 32 TB with flexible options. You can mount the file share on multiple IBM Cloud Virtual Servers for file sharing and collaboration. You have total control over your data as you manage access to the file shares with IAM profiles, security groups, and context-based restrictions. You can also bring your own root keys to add another layer of encryption. You can manage your cost by provisioning only what you need. You can increase the share capacity later when you need more storage, and you can adjust the IOPS to increase or decrease performance anytime.
Features
Flexible customization
You don't need to provision another file share when your workload demands change. You can increase the share capacity up to 32 TB when you need more storage. You can adjust the IOPS to increase the performance during a busy period and decrease IOPS when it's no longer needed. You can increase your file share capacity and adjust the IOPS without impacting normal operations.
Durability
You can avoid data loss during maintenance or failures without needing to create system-level RAID arrays. Redundant network architecture (multiple network paths) and redundant storage (high availability pairs) ensure that file shares tolerate service interruption to a part of the infrastructure, and service availability is maintained.
Security for data at rest
Your data on a file share is encrypted with IBM-managed keys at no cost to you. For more control and greater security, you can bring your own root keys to the cloud or have an IBM key management service generate root keys for you. Supported key management services are Key Protect and Hyper Protect Crypto Services (HPCS).
Security for data in flight
You can use security group policies to manage access to the file share. During normal operations, data is moving through a secure data center network. In addition, the traffic between the authorized virtual server instance and the file share can be IPsec encapsulated by the client when Encryption-in-transit is enabled.
Global footprint
File shares can be provisioned in data centers around the world.
