Expanding and contracting capacity for Regulated Workloads

Expanding and contracting capacity for Regulated Workloads

End of Marketing: As of 17 July 2025, new deployments of VMware Regulated Workloads instances are no longer available for new customers. If you are an existing customer, you can still add or delete clusters, add or delete VMware ESXi™ servers or NFS storage, and add or remove services for your existing Regulated Workloads instances. As an existing customer, you can also view or delete your Regulated Workloads instances.

Expand or contract the capacity of your Regulated Workloads instances according to your business needs, by adding or deleting VMware vSphere® ESXi™ servers or Network File System (NFS) storage.

Before you add or delete ESXi servers

You must migrate the VMware vCenter Server® virtual machines (VMs) before you delete a server. This requirement applies to the vCenter Server VM and to the additional vCenter high availability VMs on the management and witness clusters.

Adding or deleting ESXi servers

The processes to add and delete servers for Regulated Workloads instances are similar to the ones for VMware Cloud Foundation for Classic - Automated instances. For more information, see:

Adding or removing NFS storage

The processes to add and remove NFS storage for Regulated Workloads instances are similar to the ones for VCF for Classic - Automated instances. For more information, see:
