Geospatial analytics

IBM Cloud® Data Engine is deprecated. As of 18 February 2024 you can't create new instances, and access to free instances will be removed. Existing Standard plan instances are supported until 18 January 2025. Any instances that still exist on that date will be deleted.

Geospatial SQL functions allow developers to efficiently index and perform calculations on geospatial data. The combination of geospatial analytic functions with the serverless form factor of Data Engine makes it easy to build location analytics solutions with your data in the cloud.

Getting Started with Data Engine Geospatial shows you how to use Data Engine to analyze geospatial data.

FordGo bike analysis using Data Engine demonstrates how to use Data Engine's geospatial capabilities to analyze bike-share data from San Francisco.

Querying geospatial data by using Data Engine shows you how to create and run geospatial queries with Data Engine on bicycle location data that is stored in IBM Cloud® Object Storage by using IBM® Watson Studio and PixieDust.
