# Administering managed professional services as an IBM Business Partner

To administer managed professional services tile as a Business Partner, navigate to Partner Center to approve requests, add billing entries, and confirm engagements to help ensure a smooth activation of the partnership and service setup.

## Before you begin
{: #prereqs-access}

Before you submit or view usage in Partner Center for professional services, make sure that you have the following roles assigned:

- `Partner Pricing Viewer` and `Partner Pricing Submitter` on the Partner Center - Sell service
- `Editor` on the Software Instance service

If you complete end-to-end testing for usage submission and review, make sure that you have all the required access assigned.

## Approving requests
{: #approve-requests}

Complete the following steps to review and approve a client's request.

1. Go to **Partner Center > My products** and select the account that you requested an approval for, and click **Product instance > Current engagements** to view the pending requests.
1. In the **Current engagements** section, click the **Actions** icon ![Actions icon](../icons/actions-icon-vertical.svg "Actions") for the instance that has a pending request and click **View details**.
1. Click **Approve** to approve the request or click **Reject** to reject it.

## Adding billing entry
{: #add-billing}

After the instance is approved, you can add billing to your instance.

1. Go to **Partner Center > My products > Product instance > Current engagements** and click the **Actions** icon ![Actions icon](../icons/actions-icon-vertical.svg "Actions") for the approved instance, and then click **Add billing entry**.
1. Enter the quantity based on the unit usage and unit cost.
1. Optionally, enter extra notes.
1. Click **Next** to submit the billing information.

### Viewing billing information
{: #view-billing-information}

After the billing information is approved, you can view the billing details, history, and billing entries. Each billing submission has a lifecycle, which is an asynchronous process where the usage submission is rated or rejected. The approval process typically takes up to 24 hours.

Go to **Partner Center > My products > Product instance > Current engagements** and click the **Actions** icon ![Actions icon](../icons/actions-icon-vertical.svg "Actions") for the instance where billing is approved, and then click **View details** to review a billing submission.

* The **Details** tab provides the instance details.
* The **History** tab provides details on when an instance was created and updated, along with the billing entry submission.
* The **Billing entries** tab provides the billing entry details.

You cannot bill for previous months after the second day of the current month ends.

## Approving engagement completion
{: #approve-engagement}

You can approve the instance to complete the engagement.

1. Go to **Partner Center > My products > Product instance > Current engagements** to view the instance and click the **Actions** icon ![Actions icon](../icons/actions-icon-vertical.svg "Actions"), and then click **Mark as complete**.
1. Go to **Partner Center > My products > Product instance > Current engagements** to view the instance and click the **Actions** icon ![Actions icon](../icons/actions-icon-vertical.svg "Actions"), and then click **Reject completion request** to delete the engagement.
