# Paver plans in IBM Cloud

IBM® Paver has a Free and Professional plan. Each plan includes a monthly credit allocation for running operations with Paver. Credits are used as you work with Paver, and when credits are exhausted, the behavior depends on your plan.

Free
:   The Free plan is designed for individual exploration and learning. You receive a set number of credits per month at no cost. When credits are exhausted, Paver enters read-only mode, meaning it can continue to provide information and guidance but can't act on your behalf until credits renew.

Professional
:   The Professional plan is designed for individual practitioners and teams who run regular operations. When credits are exhausted, additional usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis per credit.

Credits reset at the start of each month.

## Switching plans for Paver in IBM Cloud
{: #switching-plans}

You can switch from the Free plan to the Professional plan at any time. If you are reaching your limit while you are using the Free plan, you are alerted in the console that you're approaching your limit, and you can choose to upgrade then.

1. From the console menu header. menu, click the **Help** icon ![Help icon](../icons/help.svg "Help") > **Paver AI assistant**.
1. Click the **Settings** icon ![Settings](../icons/settings.svg "Settings icon"), and then click **All settings**.
1. Go to **Billing**.
1. Click **Update** to review the available plans and select the option that works best for you.
1. Agree to the terms and conditions, and click **Confirm**.
