4.9 version information and update actions

Review information about version 4.9 of Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud, released 09 Feb 2022. This version is based on Kubernetes version 1.22.

Version 4.9 is no longer supported. Update your cluster to at least version 4.10 as soon as possible.

Update before master

See Deprecation Warnings for methods to identify use of deprecated APIs. Warnings for components provided by the Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud cluster install can be ignored since they will be handled during the update. Note that Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud cluster administrators do not need to provide a manual acknowledgment before the cluster can be upgraded, as mentioned in this Red Hat article.

Migrating your worker nodes to RHEL 8

After updating your worker nodes to version 4.9, migrate them to use RHEL 8 by provisioning a new worker pool, then deleting the previous worker pool. See Migrating to a new Red Hat Enterprise Linux version.
