# Understanding high availability for NPSaaS
{: #ha}

IBM® Netezza® Performance Server for IBM Cloud Pak® for Data as a Service leverages OpenShift to recover from node failures. It has a built-in self-healing mechanisms to recover from compute node (SPU) failures. It uses highly reliable storage provided by hyperscalers for user data, Cloud Object Storage (COS) for staging and snapshot service for backups for BCDR.
Netezza service however is a zonal service. If the zone goes down, the service will come up in another zone and then the user data needs to be restored after the service comes online. More details can be found [here](https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/netezza?topic=netezza-understanding-bc-dr&format=markdown).
