Navigating to the web UI

After you provision an instance of the IBM Cloud Monitoring service in the IBM Cloud, and configure a monitoring agent for a metrics source, you can view, monitor, and manage metrics through the IBM Cloud Monitoring web UI.

Grant IAM policies to a user to view data

You must be an administrator of the Monitoring service, an administrator of the Monitoring instance, or have account IAM permissions to grant other users policies.

The following table lists the minimum policies that a user must have to be able to launch the IBM Cloud Monitoring web UI, and view data:

IAM policies
Service	Role	Permission granted
`IBM Cloud Monitoring`	Platform role: Viewer	Allows the user to view the list of service instances in the Observability Monitoring dashboard.
`IBM Cloud Monitoring`	Service role: Writer	Allows the user to launch the Web UI and view metrics in the Web UI.

Launch the Monitoring UI

You launch the Monitoring UI within the context of an IBM Cloud Monitoring instance, from the IBM Cloud UI.

Complete the following steps to launch the web UI:

Log in to your IBM Cloud account.

Click IBM Cloud dashboard to launch the IBM Cloud dashboard.

After you log in with your user ID and password, the IBM Cloud Dashboard opens.
In the navigation menu, select Observability.
Select Monitoring.

The list of instances that are available on IBM Cloud is displayed.
Select one instance. Then, click Open dashboard.

The Monitoring UI opens.
