Cloud Databases are managed databases, and a messaging queue, that are hosted in IBM Cloud and integrated with other IBM Cloud services. Gen 2 Cloud Databases support the same data technologies as Gen 1 instances with a richer feature set, enhanced security and networking, and is more suitable for cloud-native workloads. ## Provision an instance

Follow the steps for provisioning a Cloud Databases instance of your preferred service. Gen 2 Cloud Databases provides isolated compute, a secure, single-tenant compute environment that serves as the foundation for complex, high-performance enterprise workloads.
