# Understanding high availability and disaster recovery for the IBM Cloud CLI
{: #ha-dr}

IBM Cloud® provides storage of IBM Cloud CLI binary files, plug-ins, and metadata that is used by the IBM Cloud CLI and the IBM-provided CLI installers. The IBM Cloud CLI follows the practices that are described in [How IBM Cloud ensures high availability and disaster recovery](https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/resiliency?topic=resiliency-disaster-recovery&format=markdown).
{: shortdesc}

The CLI binary data and metadata are stored in a US cross-regional IBM Cloud Object Storage instance. If the cross-regional Object Storage instance is unavailable at any time, the IBM Cloud CLI is still operational on the client's on-premises installation.

The IBM Cloud CLI does not store user data.
