Release update

OpenShift Virtualization VM protection and recovery

IBM Cloud Backup and Recovery now supports protecting and recovering Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization virtual machines (VMs) that run on Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud (ROKS). You can protect all VMs in a namespace or select specific VMs by name or label. Backed-up VMs can be restored to the original ROKS cluster or to a different registered ROKS cluster. When a VM is selected for restore, its associated DataVolumes and PVCs are restored together with the VM. For more information, see Protecting OpenShift Virtualization VMs and scheduling a backup and Recover OpenShift Virtualization VMs.

Release update

The Connector Agent enables direct connectivity between your data sources and the backup cluster, which provides an alternative to the Data Source Connector for certain workloads.

The Connector Agent is a lightweight software component that runs on your source host and establishes a direct connection to the IBM Cloud Backup and Recovery cluster. This architecture is particularly useful for Oracle RAC environments and other scenarios where direct agent-to-cluster communication is preferred. For more information, see the tutorials on Set up and register a Connector Agent.

To complete the protection workflow, users need an IBM Cloud VSI cluster, an active Rigel connection, and the respective Db2 virtual machines. See Requirements for registering your Db2 database on an IBM Cloud VSI cluster for more information.
